In Wedding Photography

My most recent Balbirnie Hotel Wedding was just last month when I had the absolute pleasure to work with Ashley and Richard (or Dickie as he is called). Balbirnie is a beautiful Georgian Mansion in 400 acres of parkland near Glenrothes in Fife, its a very popular place to get Married and I am lucky to be there a few times every year.

I arrived early (too early as usual) to get some shots of the girls getting ready, it was frighteningly calm and I did wonder if this was the calm before the storm but as the day unfolded it seemed that calm was the order of the day – thankfully. Although Ashley was getting ready in one of the spare rooms, she did get the opportunity to use the bridal room to actually get dressed and have some photographs taken. Meanwhile, Dickie and the guys had arrived and were in the bar where I caught up with them for some shots.

It’s at this point of the day that time seems to run out of control, from what seemed like ages to go, suddenly it was time to head down the Aisle. The registrar from Fife Council was lovely and very accommodating of me, not all celebrants make it easy for photographers. The service was lovely with a couple of readings from family and once the ink was dried on the paper, it was all over and we headed outside for a large group shot on the stairs at Balbirnie.  This is a great place for a big group shot, even for a large Wedding, everyone can be seen and the backdrop is stunning.

A few family photographs much to Dickies dismay then a walk round the grounds for some couple shots before it was time to cut the cake then head downstairs for the meal. Speeches first as usual then I retired to a side room to download and edit the days pictures before the evening guests arrived and the dancing started.

Thanks Dickie and Ashley for allowing me to share your Balbirnie Hotel Wedding – it was an absolute pleasure to work with you
