Last night Susan and I were in Glasgow at the Scottish VOWS Award 2016. This was the 2nd year I had been nominated for an award, when you consider that many hundreds of Photographers enter – to get to the final 10 was pretty good going. However, winning was what mattered really, I missed out last year which was disappointing but I did realise that the standard was extremely high and I learned a lot from what the judges said which I applied to my submission this year.
Being picked from the hundreds of Photographers is down to my clients, they voted for me and gave me fantastic reviews, it was thanks to those reviews and nominations that meant I got to the award ceremony in the first place. Beyond that I had to submit a document about customer service, what I do differently and I had to prove that I put my customers at the heart of everything I do.
Sadly, it wasn’t enough and the coveted first place went elsewhere. However, this year the VOWS decided to award a few highly commended awards, these were given in only a few categories (5 I think) and only when the first place was highly contested, I suppose you could call it second place. I was absolutely delighted to get the Highly Commended place in the Photographers category this year, lets hope its a step closer to winning next year.
So, next year, it’s about upping my game again, trying to find ways to provide even better customer service.
Thank you to all my lovely clients who nominated me and gave me really glowing reviews, I appreciate it more than you could imagine
